Evangelist is an missionsorganisation working across churchborders. Our purpose is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through lectures, literature, music and social work among people in need both in- and outside Denmark.
Evangelist originates from the pentacostal movement who is theologically wellfounded in classical Christianity and lies end to end with the international, evangelical and charismatic tradition.
The pentacostal churches have through history given less attention to confessions of faith, traditions, the actual form of the services and rituals.
It's about the content - not the "container". And the contents cannot be discussed: We believe every word from the Bible as the Word of God and as highest authority, written down by humans by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is the manual for a good conduct of life. Not just words, but power that enables us to live life as Christians and do the same things that Jesus Christ and the apostles did.
Not only through the preaching of the Word but through practical Christian charity, healing of the sick, deliverance from demons, the baptism in the Holy Ghost, the gifts of grace in function and so on.
Evangelist is not a denomination but rather a job description that originates from the Greek word "Evangelium" which means "good message".
An Evangelist is a Messenger of good News. We do this according to the Lausannetreaty that is the evangelical churches' objective clause concerning evangelization in our time. The treaty was made and signed by Christians from 150 nations at a conference about worldevangelization in Switzerland.
Besides that we confess the apostles' creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
