After a "Power of the Spirit" meeting in Frederiksvaerk Finn Kousgaard went home, for the first time in four and a half years without his crutches.
I felt a strong heat in my right shoulder and right knee. After that the pain was gone, Finn Kousgaard tells.. |
When Finn Kousgaard saw the headline "Power of the Spirit" on the back of a newspaper he had no doubt about that he had to go. The meeting was at school in Frederiksvaerk. - My wife and I had seen some TV programs about clairvoyance and "the power of the spirits" And we talked of going because we thought that the meeting was about the same thing as these programs, Finn tells. - We did not know exactly what we were going to experience. When we arrived and the meeting began we were told that we should expect to see things which to some people would seem unreal or peculiar and strange. They said that the "sick would be healed" and when they asked if anyone was mentally ill and wanted to be healed, I raised my hand, Finn says. Christian Hedegaard asked him what was wrong and found out that Finn's problem was both mental and physical. He was on tranquilizers and had undergone surgery five times in his right knee and all five times it had gone wrong. The latest operation was in September 2002.
Finn received four artificial knees in two years. Finn Kousgaard tells how he had to stop his job as a carpenter in 1998 because of osteoarthritis. After that came a series of operations:
1. May 1999. Hoersholm hospital. Arthroscopy. Finn is told that it is necessary to implant an artificial knee. 2. March 2000. Frederikssund hospital. A new arthroscopy. The position of the artificial knee is not totally as it is supposed to be- therefore Finn is admitted to a new operation. 3. May 2000. Hoersholm hospital. The doctors try again. They try to correct the kneecap a little. It is clear that the correction will not make Finn free from pain. The artificial knee is placed so badly that it is recommended it be replaced with a new. 4. July 2000. Hilleroed hospital. Changing of the artificial knee. The experts think that everything is fine, but on the contrary, things are still bad. 5. November 2000. The National Hospital of Denmark. A new artificial knee is implanted for the third time. Finn still has problems with pain. After a lot of check ups and meetings with a professor of knee operations he is told that the National Hospital of Denmark should be able to do better. 6. September 2002. The National Hospital of Denmark. The artificial knee is changed for the fourth time.
Apparently none of these operations changed the situation for Finn. When he arrived at the meeting "Power of the Spirit" in April 2003 he was not able to walk without his canes because of the pain. Actually he had been using crutches or a wheelchair constantly for the last four and a half years. On top of all that Finn suffered from pain in his right shoulder caused by a fracture. The injury happened in Australia 2002 where he had been on a vacation with his wife. Finn broke the shoulder and a tendon got stuck. In March 2003 he had surgery to his shoulder, but after the operation he still had a lot of pain and he was only able to raise his arm about 30 degrees.
Do you believe in Jesus? Finn skips forward to the time leading up to the meeting. - After I had told Christian Hedegaard about my health problems he asked if I believed in Jesus. I must admit that I was a little hesitant. "I think I do", I answered but apparently it was not good enough because he asked again. Suddenly I had no doubt anymore. "Yes", I answered. Then I was asked if I believed that Jesus could heal me. "Yes", I answered without doubting that He could heal me if I really wanted it, Finn tells. - My wife was standing next to me and now she was asked the same questions and then we held each other by the hand. Christian Hedegaard asked us to say a prayer together with him. We prayed that Jesus would heal me and during the prayer I felt a strong heat in my right shoulder and right knee. My wife also felt it. A strong heat spread through both her arms up to her elbows, Finn Kousgaard tells. - After the prayer Christian Hedegaard told me to keep my eyes shut and keep holding his hand and then follow him. When we had walked a little he asked me to open my eyes. We were standing in front of a staircase. My wife said that I was not able to walk up the stairs without my canes. She was just about to get them when Christian Hedegaard stopped her. "He does not need them anymore", he said and asked me to walk up the stairs...
Difficult to explain Finn Kousgaard clearly remembers how he walked up the stairs totally without pain for the first time in four and a half years. - It is one of the biggest things that had happened to me, Finn says. Afterwards Christian Hedegaard asked him to raise his right arm all the way up, which Finn did also totally without pain. - I have not had pain or been tired neither in my legs nor in my shoulder since then. Now I am able to do all the things I was able to do before I got ill. And now I am catching up on things I could not do for all those years, like gardening. It is a totally new life, Finn tells. - I have no doubt that it was Jesus' intention that we went to the meeting that evening. And that Jesus wanted to heal me using the hands of Christian Hedegaard. I am very grateful. Every single day I think about Jesus and thank him for what he has done for me. My wife is exceedingly happy. She is also certain that it was Jesus who was present that night in Frederiksvaerk. Some think it that is just a kind of "flip" but I actually do not care. The closeness I have experienced totally overwhelmed me. It is difficult to explain but I think I have been just so close to Jesus. One likes to have words for everything in order to understand everything. But now when I am healed I do not need any more words, Finn explains. - It has been important for me to tell about this experience to others. Because I know that what Jesus has done for me he has also done for many others before me and he will do the same for many after me, Finn Kousgaard closes convincingly.
